The much-awaited 2nd Women’s Gridiron Open Day kicked off at 9 AM. Hosted by The Logan Bears in Browns Plains, The day was blessed with beautiful weather – a gentle overcast sky, providing the perfect balance of warmth without the scorching sun. As the morning unfolded, the participants immersed themselves in a world of gridiron, honing skills and embracing the spirit of camaraderie.
The participants divided into four groups of four, each embarking on a journey of skill development. The day commenced with invigorating warm-up drills, setting the tone for the dynamic activities that lay ahead.
The morning’s drills encompassed a range of techniques, designed to enhance gridiron prowess. Participants delved into standard catching drills, mastering the art of securing the ball. These skills were seamlessly combined with routes, a crucial aspect of the game that demands precision and strategy.
The day’s curriculum seamlessly transitioned into defensive plays and tackling drills. The women showcased their determination and grit, first pushing past offense pads and then tactfully tackling donut-shaped pads. The drills highlighted the importance of technique and control in making impactful tackles.
To cap off the day, participants engaged in an exhilarating 7v7 game of Flag Football.
